Thomas More Falls to No. 2 Berry in NCAA Regional First Round

(MOUNT BERRY, Ga.) – The Thomas More College softball team fell 3-0 to No. 2-ranked Berry College today (Friday, May 12, 2017) in a first round game of the NCAA Division III Championships' Mount Berry, Georgia Regional at Kay Williams Field.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 35-9 and will play Emory & Henry College in an elimination game tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.  With the win, the Vikings improve 39-2 and will play Transylvania University at 11 a.m. in a winner's bracket game.

Berry scored two runs in the second and one in the sixth, while it held Thomas More scoreless for the 3-0 victory.

Sophomore pitcher Alix DeDreu (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun) suffered the loss in the circle as she pitched six innings giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and striking out two.

Junior pinch hitter Bree Appel (Amelia, Ohio/Batavia) had a hit in the fifth inning to lead the Saints at the plate.
