Thomas More Downs Bluffton in Three Straight

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated Bluffton University, 3-0, tonight (Wednesday, September 12, 2012) in a non-conference match at the Connor Convocation Center.

With the win, the Saints improve to 7-4 overall and with the loss, the Beavers fall to 4-4.

Thomas More won the match by the scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 26-24.  Sophomore outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) led the Saints' offense with eight kills.  Junior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic), sophomore outside hitter/right side Felicity Britt (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) and freshman middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) each had seven kills.  Senior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) finished with 30 assists.

Defensively, the Saints had two players had double-digit digs as sophomore defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse) had 14 and sophomore defensive specialist Christina Brackett-Newport (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) finished with 10.

The Saints return to action on Saturday (September 15) when they host a tri-match at the Connor Convocation Center.  Thomas More will play Washington & Jefferson College at 11 a.m. and Franklin College at 3 p.m.
