(HANOVER, Ind.) - The Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated Birmingham-Southern College, 2-1, in double overtime today (Saturday, September 10, 2011) in match played at L.S. Ayres Field in Hanover, Indiana.
With the win, the Saints improve to 2-1 on the season and with the loss, Birmingham-Southern fell to 2-2.
In the second half, the Saints took a 1-0 lead when freshman midfielder Sam Work (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored unassisted at the 47:56 mark. BSC tied the match at 1-1 at the 67:30 mark when Amanda Babbin scored unassisted.
Both teams played a scoreless overtime period and then sophomore Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored the game-winning goal at the 101:56 mark.
Senior Katie Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) played all 101:56 in goal and allowed one goal and recorded three saves.
Thomas More out-shot BSC, 15-13, but BSC won the battle of corner kicks, 7-1.
Thomas More returns to the pitch tomorrow (Sunday, September 11) when it hosts Hiram College at 1 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field.
