Saints Sweep Adrian and Kenyon at OWU Invite

(DELAWARE, Ohio) – The Thomas More College volleyball team swept a pair of matches tonight (Friday, September 15, 2017) at the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishop Invitational at Branch Rickey Arena in Delaware, Ohio.  The Saints defeat Adrian College and Kenyon both by the score of 3-0.

With the sweep, the Saints improve to 6-4.

In the first match of the day, Thomas More defeated Adrian by the scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-15.  Junior setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) paced the offense with 27 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Hannah Just (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual) finished with four service aces.  First-year outside hitter Carlee Lambert (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and sophomore middle hitter Jenna Mummert (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Northeastern) each finished with 11 kills to lead Thomas More's offensive attack.  On the defensive side of the net, sophomore middle hitter Rana Cousin (Bowling Green, Ky./Warren Central) led the team with four blocks, while sophomore defensive specialist Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) led team in digs with 17.

The Saints defeated Kenyon in the second match by the scores of 25-8, 25-16 and 25-22.  Mummert led the team in kills with 10, while Lambert finished with eight.  Borders led the team in service aces with six and Fessler had a team-high 20 assists.  Borders led the Saints' defense with 14 digs.

Thomas More returns to action tomorrow as it travels to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to compete in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match at the Robert C. Carey Center.  The Saints will play Washington & Jefferson College at 1 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. match with host Saint Vincent College.
